"Made to look good on TV"

How important is your image?

TV is a visual medium and people make judgments on you and your company based on your image.

Early in my media career I learned this hard lesson through fan mail.

I was the host of a political talk show in Florida during the mid 80s.  I was opening fan mail a couple days after doing this great show.  To be honest I was eager to hear the praise about the show...

It was a real shock to read the first letter…

“Dear TJ, Why did you wear that awful tie?”

Looking Good on Camera

(Without distracting from your message)

Here are some basic tips for looking your best on camera.

1. Sit forward in your seat.  The camera latches onto the closest object, so if your slouching it can magnify the appearance of your gut.  (This is why people say the camera adds 10 lbs).

2. Look at the reporter and NOT the camera, (unless otherwise told by the producer).  Drifting or darting eyes can give a very deceitful impression – focus on the reporter.

3. Don’t wear solid black, white, or bright red.  A solid black suit can often hide or obscure where an arm ends and a shadow begins.  A white shirt is often the brightest image on screen, and can cause your face to get washed out.  Red tends to trail on camera and attracts they eye.

4. Where a solid tie. (more)

Remember, when your on camera we want people to focus on your MESSAGE, not what you're wearing…

Distractions!

A strategic business theory teaches one to minimize external threats.

A simple place to start when your on TV is with your tie.

Avoid small details, stripes, or palsies.  These can blend together and create an “interest” for the viewer at home.  Also avoid ties with images or bright colors. (learn more)

Unfortunately, if someone is wondering what is printed on your tie, their aren’t paying attention to what you are saying.

TJ’s TV Ties are made to look good on camera – without creating any added distractions.

Designed to look good on TV

Important Attributes:

A heavier silk offers a rich look in person, but it also creates a larger knot that stays in place better.

The quality of the handmade silk and the closeness of the weave helps prevent wrinkles and shadows.

TJ’s TV Ties come in a multitude of solid colors to not only to minimize distractions but also to compliment your ensemble.

Looking closely you may notice a subtle texture on each of the ties.  This adds to the richness of the tie, but also helps removes glare from bright studio lights.

Production Details:

TJ’s TV Ties are handmade in Italy and 100% silk.  They measure approximately 59 inches in length and come in 12 color options.
